Biography

Kelly Hartleib is a largely self-taught artist from Sandusky, Ohio who currently resides in Erie, Pennsylvania. From graphite, to ink, to paint, and most recently to yarn, she’s bounced around mediums for the past several years. Using her degree in Art History from the University of Akron and pairing with her midwestern upbringing, she creates scenes that are both familiar and slightly off. Her works are disconcerting, but cute. Anxious in subject matter, yet bold in linework. Both secular and steeped in religious iconography. Her work is an amalgamation of what’s constantly undulating in the folds of her brain. Having recently gotten into rug making, her body of work has only gotten more varied.
